Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s six-part comedy series revolves around the life of anti-heroine Fleabag and was produced by Two Brothers Pictures for the BBC and Amazon. The international cast includes actors Olivia Colman, Andrew Scott, Sian Clifford, Bill PatersonBrett Gelman, and guest stars such as Kristin Scott Thomas and Fiona Shaw.

Written, executive-produced by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the series was produced by Sarah Hammond and executive-produced by Harry Williams, Jack WilliamsLydia Hampson, Harry Bradbeer and Joe Lewis for London-based Two Brothers Pictures. Following the prize-giving ceremony, members of the production team Harry Williams, Jack Williams and Sarah Hammond said: “We are beyond thrilled that Fleabag picked up awards this evening – especially for Phoebe and Harry. Although it was one of the funniest scripts we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, Fleabag is also one of the most romantic, heart-breaking, smart and devastating programmes on television, which only proves the genius of Phoebe and the phenomenal cast. Phoebe is a fearless, unique and extraordinary talent, and we knew Fleabag was something special from the very first moment we saw the original stage play. For the second series to have been recognised at the Emmy Awards this year is a monumental event, and it’s wonderful to be part of the love story that is Fleabag. The opportunity to take her words and turn them into something that resonates so fiercely with audiences across the world has been a complete joy. The cast, crew and partners we’ve worked with along the way are the best in the business, and we are just thrilled to see everyone’s hard work recognised.”

Other big winners of this year’s edition included the HBO productions Game of Thrones (Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Peter Dinklage) and Chernobyl (Outstanding Limited Series, Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special for Johan Renck, Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special for Craig Mazin) as well as Black Mirror’s interactive film Bandersnatch (Outstanding Television Movie).

Fleabag’s first season hit UK screens on BBC Three in 2016 before being released on Amazon in September of that year. The second season aired on BBC Three and BBC One in March 2019, and on Amazon in May 2019. Recently, Two Brothers Pictures also produced The Widow, starring Kate Beckinsale, for ITV and Amazon, the hit drama Cheat for ITV, as well as the ambitious international drama series Strangers for ITV and Amazon, and Daisy Haggard’s “darkly comic gem” Back to Life for the BBC.
