 by Italy’s Giovanni Aloi, a filmmaker who has turned heads with his short films, such as A passo d'uomo (2014) and E.T.E.R.N.I.T (which won an award at Venice in 2015, was nominated for the European Film Awards and was in the national competition at Clermont-Ferrand in 2016), and who is currently in post-production with Tensione superficiale (his debut feature-length fiction film, produced in Italy, as were his documentaries La promessa, Lives and Pan Play Decadence).

The story of The Third War, written by Dominique Baumard and Giovanni Aloi, kicks off on the streets of Paris, where three soldiers assigned to Operation Sentinelle are on patrol. They are on alert, expecting some kind of imminent but invisible danger. But the more inaction there is, the more relationships become strained, particularly those with Léo, who is beset by doubt. And one day, when a demonstration gets out of hand, he also spins out of control and is consumed by a whirlwind of paranoia and violence…

Produced by Thierry Lounas for Capricci, The Third War will be co-produced by Bien ou Bien Productions. Having been pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature has also secured support from the CNC’s advance on receipts, the Pays de la Loire region and the Angoa. The shoot will take place from 16 October-29 November in the Paris region and in Pays de la Loire. The French distribution will be handled by The Jokers and Capricci, while the international sales are being entrusted to Wild Bunch.
