The MIDPOINT training platform for emerging talents, aimed at scouting out the most gifted filmmakers and producers of the future who are developing their first or second feature films, has announced the call for projects for its Feature Launch 2020.

Nine projects will be selected to go through an intensive four-module programme, spanning over a year, which consists of two residential workshops, a project showcase and a follow-up session.

During the two residential workshops, the participants focus on script and project development while also being able to gain a deeper understanding of other aspects of the industry. The nine creative teams work in small groups under the guidance of internationally renowned and experienced script-consultant tutors.

Most of the projects that are selected are at an early stage of development, with either a treatment or an early draft of the script, so Workshop 1, taking place at Trieste in January 2020, will focus mainly on creative development and structural dramaturgy.

Workshop 2, set to unspool in April 2020 in Slovakia, serves as a platform to further advance the scripts, while also incorporating marketing strategies into the development process and addressing the important matters connected to presentation skills and promotion.

After the development process of the two residential workshops, all nine selected projects are presented at the Works in Development – Feature Launch at Karlovy Vary.

In order to wrap up the programme, MIDPOINT Feature Launch participants will return to Trieste for Feature Launch Spotlight at When East Meets West.
