From 5 to 13 July, the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) will celebrate the diversity and creative richness of genre cinema. And, thanks to a varied and decidedly non-consensual line-up, which will delight the most hardcore of fans as well as the more casual, thrill-seeking viewer, it promises to be a captivating 19th edition.

In this particularly ambitious year, the NIFFF wants to shine a light on the diversity of genre cinema. As explained by Festival director Anaïs Emery, “Our mission is to offer a programme that gives an overview of imaginary stories from around the globe. We aim for a celebration of alterity and as much variety as possible. Thanks to its prospective dimension, fantasy is the perfect narrative tool for exploring these questions”.

The sixteen surprising films competing for the H.R. Giger Narcisse Award are perfect examples of the incredible vitality of modern-day fantasy cinema. Whether through works by confirmed filmmakers or those coming courtesy of new, emerging talents, fantasy cinema continues to intrigue audiences.
