For its first edition dedicated exclusively to documentaries (after 30 years of non-specialised programmes), the Biarritz-based FIPADOC has crowned Putin’s Witnesses [+lee también:

ficha de la película] by Vitaly Mansky, which went home with the Grand Prix in the international competition, judged by a jury made up of Shola Lynch, Leena Pasanen and Charles Hembert. Produced by Latvia’s Studio Vertov with Switzerland’s Golden Egg Production and the Czech Republic’s Hypermarket Film, the movie (which emerged triumphant at Karlovy Vary last summer) is being sold internationally by German sales agent Deckert Distribution.

As for the French competition, victory was claimed by What Madness [+lee también:
tráiler
ficha de la película] by Diego Governatori, which paints a portrait of Aurélien, one of his friends who is autistic and suffers from Asperger syndrome. Among other symptoms, he exhibits an unusual use of language, which makes his integration into society all the more difficult. The documentary was produced by Michel Klein for Les Films Hatari and is being sold by New Story. 

It’s worth mentioning that the third Grand Prix handed out by the festival, in the music documentary category, singled out the US title The 5 Browns: Digging Through the Darkness by Ben Niles.
