(selected in competition at the Berlinale, Silver Lola for Best Film at the German Film Awards in 2015, to mention but a few honours), about a brave ten-year-old who does his best to compensate for his mother's inability to take care of him and his sister, already heralded his return to the big screen after a dozen years working on television productions. Since then, he has worked on several high-profile series, such as Deutschland 83 and the Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer Patrick Melrose (which earned him an Emmy nomination). The results of Berger's skills will soon grace the silver screen again in Siblings (working title), co-written once again with actress Nele Mueller-Stöfen, who is also playing one of the lead roles in the film, alongside Lars Eidinger and Hans Löw (In My Room [+lee también:

The movie, lensed by Jens Harant (also the DoP on Jack), is about three siblings who have all reached a point in their lives where they must change something as a matter of urgency. Stefan (Eidinger), a pilot and womaniser, receives both an unexpected visit from his daughter and a health scare. Julia (Mueller-Stöfen), lonely in the wake of a tragic accident, projects all her love onto a dog. As for Tobias (Löw), he is an overwhelmed father of three whom the others force to look after their parents, as they are about to divorce – but he would much rather resume his studies than have to cope with his children and his hysterical mother at the same time. Wallowing in chaos, mistakes and uncertainty, each of them is searching for a path that might also lead to their own personal happiness. Their story is presented as an ode to the modern family, with all the worry and the happiness that go with it.

The film was shot this summer over a five-week period, in Cologne, Hamburg and Turin. It is being produced by Jan KrügerJörg Trentmann and Raimond Goebel for Port-au-Prince Film & Kultur Produktion, in co-production with Pandora Filmproduktion and regional broadcaster WDR, with the support of the German Federal Film Board (FFA), the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF), the Ministry of Culture (BKM), and the Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and NRW North Rhine-Westphalia regional funds.

Port-au-Prince will handle the national release of Siblings, at a date still to be determined – possibly dependent on a potential A-list festival invitation. Beta Cinema will take care of the film's international sales.
