A sign of our times, Montpellier Mediterranean Film Festival, which is celebrating its 40^th anniversary this year (from 19 to 27 October), with the French actress Clotilde Coureau as guest of honour, will open tomorrow with the first two episodes of the TV series Il miracolo by the Italian directors Niccolò Ammaniti, Francesco Munzi and Lucio Pellegrini. As for the rest of the festival, this edition boasts an impressive programme dedicated exclusively to cinema, with Italian cinema in the spotlight this year thanks to a retrospective on Italian comedy, a special session on the documentary Quando c'era Berlinguer by Walter Veltroni and the festival's closing film, Lucia's Grace [+lee también:

The 40^th Mediterranean Film Festival is also organising an industry event from 23 to 25 October – Cinemed Meetings – which Cineuropa will cover in more detail at a later date – this year’s focus is on young Lebanese cinema.
