Q&A: Paolo Virzì
ficha de la película] – the first film by Paolo Virzì to be shot entirely in the United States – for distribution in the USA, Latin America, Asia (excluding Japan), Eastern Europe, Portugal and South Africa. The agreement was negotiated by CAA, Bac Films and Sony.
In the film, currently undergoing production (see news article), Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland play a couple travelling from the east to the west of the country in their old Leisure Seeker camper, to escape the stifling cures of their doctors and children. The screenplay, which is based on the book of the same name by Michael Zadoorian, was written by Francesca Archibugi, Francesco Piccolo, Stephen Amidon and Virzì. The film is being produced by Indiana Production Company and Bac Films (which is also handling international sales) with Rai Cinema.
"The Leisure Seeker looks like it’s going to be one of the revelations of 2017”, a spokesperson for Sony Pictures Classics has said. “The story at its centre is very rich and promises to deliver the best performances of Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland’s careers. We can’t wait to bring Paolo Virzì’s film to audiences in the United States and all over the world”.
