She went into a mobile telephone store on the Boulevard Voltaire in Paris. She pretended to be interested in a new mobile phone, got the clerk's phone number, and left the store. She called him back the next day, telling him she'd like to see him. Ilan, the clerk, was trusting. He was twenty-three years old, with his whole life ahead of him. How could he have imagined that this pretty girl he was going to meet in a café at the Porte d’Orléans was a rendezvous with death? On Friday 10, 2006, Ilan Halimi, chosen by what woud later be called the "Gang des Barbares" because he was Jewish, was kidnapped and taken to an apartment in Bagneux, on Paris' outskirts. He was bound and tortured for three weeks, before being tossed into the woods by his torturers. He was found lying naked alongside the Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois railway tracks. He did not survive his horrendous ordeal. In this film, Ruth Halimi looks back at these 24 days of horror, 24 days during which she and her husband, Didier, received more than 600 calls, ransom demands, whose amount would constantly change, insults, threats, and photos of their tortured son... 24 days of agony for an entire family, forced to remain silent so that the police could carry out their investigation. But the police chiefs at the headquarters at 36 Quai des Orfèvres didn't realize just who they were dealing with. No one had taken stock of the abductors' ferocious anti-Semitism, or imagined that Ilan would lose his life.
