Appointed Head of the Swedish Film Institute in 2000, Norwegian Åse Kleveland managed the organisation strengthening its position and contributing in giving Swedish cinema a greater visibility. The institute in fact has become over the last years a driving force in Nordic film co-operation and an active partner in European film policy co-operation.
In the interview she highlights the importance of establishing new digital cinemas in the country involving the government’s support. She explains that digital cinema, being more flexible, offers a possibility of screening a large variety of films with an advantage for both Swedish and European films.
