Viviane Reding, European commissioner for information society and media, is interviewed in occasion of the 2003 Cinedays.
In the interview, she talks about the attitude of young people towards European Cinema. She explains that normally young people are used to seeing American blockbusters, because the promotion is so strong and they are screened in most of the cinemas. As a consequence, she says, they do not know that there are many possibilities to see other European films, discovering something eventually new.
Cinedays is in fact made for young people, as an occasion to show the enormous wealth that the European diversity represents with films produced in Europe.
She sees in Cinedays also an occasion to educate and give the opportunity to see films, encourage these young people to follow European productions, and learn about Europe with its cultures, roots and diversity.
