Interview with the shooting star Marija Škaricic, was brought to the attention of audiences by Arsen A. Ostojic’s ensemble piece A Wonderful Night In Split.
A graduate of the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Art, Marija Škaricic (Split, 1977) has appeared in several praised theatre, TV and film productions. In a few years her career steps have solidly shaped her reputation of a young actress of eclectic talent. Her performance as a junkie in Arsen A. Ostojic’s ensemble piece A Wonderful Night In Split (2004) was the first film that brought her to the attention of audiences and won her her first Heart of Sarajevo Best Actress Award at the Sarajevo Film Festival. She won her second two years later for her turn in Andrea Staka’s Fraulein.
Last year, two of her films premiered at the Berlin Film Festival: Yellow, a short film by Zvonimir Juric, and Burhan Qurbani’s feature debut Shahada. Her latest film, Dalibor Matanic’s Mother of Asphalt, screened at festivals in Pusan, Thessaloniki and Pula, where she won the Golden Arena for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
