Australian director Rolf De Heer is interviewed during the 2002 Venice Film Festival, where he presented The Tracker. The film is about the exploitation of Aboriginal Australians by the white population. The protagonist of The Trackeris in fact a Native Australian Aborigine who rebels against the white man’s dominion.
During the interview the director talks about the production of films from his point of view. He admits having a list of around 100 films that he considers "fantastic", and each one of these films have influenced his productions. As he explains "each film is not influential in itself, but they all play an influence". He describes with the word "evolution" all the process a films goes through during the production and post production, referring to his latest film The Tracker.
