Coproduction Office merges sales with Katapult

by

European arthouse sales and production outfit The Coproduction Office announced at Cannes MIP TV that they were merging their international sales activities with the US-oriented Katapult Film Sales.

Founded in 2004 as an international sales branch for Icelandic/Hollywood producer Joni Sighvatsson (Wild at Heart) and Jeff Levy-Hinte (Thirteen), Katapult has shifted its basis from L.A. to Paris, from where it will continue to focus on US independent films and English-language European films. However, both companies will keep their own brands, catalogues and acquisition activities separate.

Philippe Bober and Vanja Kalurjercic will remain in charge of acquisitions for The Coproduction Office and Anna Kvorning for Katapult.

“It really makes sense for us to merge, to cut costs as well as to have broader appeal for world buyers,” said Kvorning, who joined Coproduction’s sales team under the aegis of Sarah Calderon.

and musical documentaries Joy Division and Heima, about Icelandic band Sigur Rós. The Coproduction Office is often associated with daring, uncompromising European talents such as Roy Andersson, Kormél Mundruczó and Ulrich Seidl.
