- America's independent filmmakers gather in the "Mecca" of cinema to present awards to two European films at the gala closing of the Hollywood Film Festival

Villa des Roses, a Flemish language film by Frank Van Passel won the best feature film award at the 6th edition of the Hollywood Movie Awards that showcases the work of independent and mainstream directors of or working in Hollywood.
Based on a short story by Williem Elsschot, Villa des Roses is a pan-European co-production by Belgium (Favourite Films), Great Britain (Dan Films), Luxembourg (Samsa Film) and the Netherlands’ (Isabella Films), with funding from Eurimages. Set on the eve of the first world war, the film stars Julie Delpy as a beautiful young maid in a small Paris hotel that is run by a pair of British ex-patriots who consider Paris to be an extension of Great Britain.
Villa des Roses was released in Belgium earlier this year and was nominated for a BIFA (British Independent Film Awards), scheduled to be presented in London on 30 October.
Sweden’s Richard Hobert won the best European Hollywood Movie award for Everybody Loves Alice, produced by Sonet Films.
