Caroline Link wins "Golden Wave"

German filmmaker, Caroline Link won two of the most important awards at the 4th Bordeaux International Festival of Women’s Cinema, best film and screenplay for Nirgendwo in Afrka (Nowhere in Africa). This story of a German Jewish family’s escape to Kenya won over the jury that was presided over by Algerian-born filmmaker, Yamina Benguigui.
Bordeaux’s other protagonist was Bend it like Beckham by Anglo-Indian director Gurinder Chadha, who won three awards: the special jury prize, the audience award and a joint best actress nod for Keria Knightley and Parminder K. Nagra.
