Argentero out in Lucini’s Solo un padre

by

A young father struggles to raise a 10-month-old daughter in Luca Lucini’s Solo un padre (“Just a Father”), “a difficult blend of drama and comedy,” according to the director, who is grateful to lead actor Luca Argentero for his “significant contribution” to the film.

A former contestant of TV’s Big Brother, whose acting career was launched in Ferzan Ozpetek’s Saturno Contro, Argentero is having his moment in the sun. Besides Lucini’s film, he will appear in two more large roles this year, in Umberto Carteni’s Diverso da chi? and Michele Placido’s Il grande sogno.
Based on Nick Earls’ novel Perfect Skin, Solo un padre was produced by Cattleya and is being released today on 200 screens by Warner Bros. It is the last of a four-picture deal Lucini had with Cattleya, all distributed by Warner, which intends to continue investing in Italian cinema and is already in talks with Cattleya about the director’s upcoming project, an ensemble comedy that could also include Argentero.
