Local films head to Buenos Aires

New films by Germany’s leading filmmakers as well as promising newcomers will be shown at the 8th Festival of German Films in Buenos Aires (September 11-17).

The festival will kick off in the Cine Village Recoleta with a screening of The Wave [+see also:

in the presence of director Dennis Gansel and lead actress Jennifer Ulrich. The Wave is on the shortlist of nominees for the German entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.

Peter Kahane’s Red Zora will be shown in a children’s screening.

Lothar Herzog, a representative of the short films program Next Generation 2008, will also travel to Buenos Aires to present his film Bonzenkarren.

A particular highlight will be the screening of the silent movie Hamlet by Sven Gade and Heinz Schall, which will be shown in cooperation with the German Film Institute. The Seronoser quartet will provide musical accompaniment for the film.
