Appointment in Algiers for Italian cinema

Five features and two shorts – the most recent and representative Italian production of the past year, ranging in genres from comedy to social activism and drama – will screen from tomorrow in the second edition of the Festival of Italian Cinema of Algiers.

Entitled “An Appointment With Italian Cinema in Algiers”, the event, which continues as part of last year’s official celebration of Intercultural Dialogue is was organised by MedFilm with the Italian Institute of Culture and the Italian Embassy of Algeria and a collaboration with Filmitalia.

"MedFilm is proud to once again meet Algerian audiences, its cultural operators and the private and public representatives of its film industry with the aim of exchange and reciprocity,” said President Ginella Vocca.

The special opening event will be dedicated to Carlo Mazzacurati’s The Right Distance [+see also:

, in which a love story, immigration and blood bring about prejudices in a small community enveloped by an only seeming calm. The programme includes Alessandro Angelini’s The Salty Air [+see also:

by Salvatore Ficarra and Valentino Picone and Massimo Venier’s Mi fido di te.

The short films selected are: Alessandro Celli’s Uova, winner of the 2008 David di Donatello and Jamal by Luisella Ratiglia.
