Ewan Mc Gregor and Jim Carrey feature in EuropaCorp line-up

At the Cannes Festival Film Market, French international sales company EuropaCorp will present an impressive line-up, headed by their production I Love You Philip Morris by John Reque and Glenn Fiquarra. Shooting on the film has just got underway in the US .

Based on a true story and adapted from Steve McVicker’s book, the film retraces the misadventures of a crook (Jim Carrey) who falls madly in love with his cellmate (Ewan McGregor) in a Texan prison and then makes a series of spectacular escapes in order to be reunited with him.

Headed by Pascal Degove and Marie-Laure Montinori, the EuropaCorp sales team will also get to work on projects currently in production: Luc Besson’s Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard (set for release in December 2009) and Olivier Mégaton’s Transporter 3, starring Jason Statham, Francois Berléand and Robert Knepper.

The line-up also features the ambitious animated project Un monstre à Paris (“A Monster in Paris”, set for release in April 2009) by Bibo Bergeron, who has joined forces with DreamWorks; and the new film by Xavier Giannoli, Je suis parti de rien (“I Started Out With Nothing”, formerly known as A l’origine - see news), starring François Cluzet, Emmanuelle Devos and Gérard Depardieu.

Market premiere screenings will include Diane Kurys’ Sagan, starring Sylvie Testud as the famous novelist; and the thriller Go Fast by Belgian director Olivier Van Hoofstadt, starring Roschdy Zem and Olivier Gourmet (see news).

Other market premieres include Miguel Courtois’s Spanish production GAL, about failed counter-terrorism, and Karl Zéro’s cutting documentary Being W, about Georges W.Bush.

There will also be a screening of Christian Faure’s Hauts murs (“High Walls”).

A promotional reel will be unveiled for Romance in the Dark by Danish director Rie Rasmussen, which is set against the backdrop of the conflict in Kosovo and mafia activity in Marseilles. A trailer will also be presented for James Demonaco’s Staten Island, starring Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio and Seymour Cassel.

Other titles include Frédéric Auburtin’s Envoyés très spéciaux (“Very Special Correspondents”), starring Gérard Lanvin and Gérard Jugnot, and Tears For Sale by Serbian director Uros Stojanovic.

The EuropaCorp line-up also features a wealth of animated projects, including Jacques Tardi’s trilogy adaptation Aventures extraordinaires d'Adèle Blanc-Sec (“The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec”), Mathias Malzieu’s literary adaptation La mécanique du cœur (“The Mechanics of the Heart”) and Arthur and the Two Worlds War (set for release in December 2010).
