, writer/director Edgar Wright and writer/star Simon Pegg have agreed upon a two-picture deal with Working Title.

First up will be a US-set action/crime comedy called Baby Driver, which will be followed by a spoof comedy titled The World’s End. Both films will be Working Title productions in association with Big Talk Productions, with Nira Park, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner as producers.

Pegg will play the lead in the films. He recently starred in UK box office smash Run Fatboy Run and has completed work on How to Lose Friends & Alienate People and Star Trek.

Wright is currently in pre-production for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and is attached to Them and Ant-Man as director.

Wright said: “Working Title have been fantastic to work with and hugely instrumental in bringing the work of myself, Simon, and Nira Park to the screen. We’ve had a lot of fun with them so far and it delights me to continue the partnership in the future with new material and bold directions.”

Fellner said, “We are delighted to continue to be in business with Edgar. We see him as one of the most gifted writers and directors in the industry today.”

Pegg is eager to complete what he calls the ‘blood and ice-cream trilogy’. “Shaun of the Dead has strawberry, Hot Fuzz has the original Cornetto flavour, and there will be a mint-choc chip in the third film. We don’t quite know how or why yet, but it will happen,” he said.

The films will be distributed by Universal.
