Canal + names Manuel Alduy head of film
Manuel Alduy continues to rise the ranks of the film arm of pay TV broadcaster Canal +, which is the main financer of film in France.
Appointed director of French film acquisitions at the end of November 2005, he has now been promoted to the post of group director of film, replacing Evi Fullenbach, who resigned due to personal reasons.
According to Canal +, Alduy will be responsible for the film editorial policy at Canal+ and Canal+ Cinéma, the supervision of TPS Star and the CineCinema thematic channels, the film arm’s French and foreign acquisitions, and relations with professional film organisations.
Under his direction, Franck Weber has been named director of French film acquisitions, overseeing sales and pre-sales of French titles.
These hierarchical changes – which follow restructuring at StudioCanal (see news) – seem to seal the rise of a new generation to the helm of the Canal + group, which is jointly headed by Bertrand Méheut (president) and Rodophe Belmer (deputy managing director).
