Labadie goes solo with Le Pacte

Dismissed in September from Bac Films (see article), the distribution outfit he had directed since its creation in 1986, Jean Labadie has bounced back fairly quickly.

The man who has worked with great filmmakers such as Nanni Moretti, Jim Jarmusch and many others, has announced the creation of his new company, Le Pacte, which will start off by distributing Hana Makhmalbaf’s Le cahier (“The Exercise Book”) on February 20, 2008.

Another big name in French distribution, Stéphane Célérier, who was a casualty of the restructuring at Studio Canal (see news), is also reappearing on the scene, having reclaimed the name Mars Distribution from his former employer.

His sensational comeback will be sealed on December 26 with the release of Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi’s Actresses [+see also:

, followed by Emir Kusturica’s Promise Me This on January 30, 2008, Cédric Klapisch’s Paris [+see also:
