San Sebastian: Ile-de-France and Madrid focus on co-production

by

For the third consecutive year, the Ile-de-France and Madrid Film Commissions are hosting a co-production meeting today at the San Sebastian Film Festival. Over 40 film projects will be presented.

Initiated with the participation of Unifrance by two member regions of the C.R.C. (Capital Regions for Cinema), the event is also hosting the presence of French integrated groups, such as EuropaCorp, producers Les Films Manuel Munz, Futurikon and Tu vas voir, as well as distributors (Bac Films, Epicentre), international sales agents (Onoma) and outfits specialised in film financing, such as Backup Films.

Some of the Spanish outfits attending the meeting are Finding4you, Cre-accion Films, Eldorado Internacional, Ficciones Desde Pluton, Avalon, Markab Creativos, Erroibar Films, Continental, Paltaforma Nuevos Realizadores, Muac Films, Ashtarte Producciones, Grupo Abaco, Videokine and Gona Cine y Television.

won an award in the 2006 Cannes Un Certain Regard sidebar – will be one of the projects seeking Spanish partners at the event.

Other participants include Gérard Jugnot’s Rose et noir (Les Films Manuel Munz), about a well-known fashion designer and his team who are sent by the King of France to Spain during the 16th century to prepare a royal marriage, a journey that becomes a culture shock between a decadent France and a Spain imprisoned by the Inquisition.

The Ile-de-France Film Commission is also supporting the Cinema in Motion initiative, organised by the San Sebastiàn festival to aid features in the process of completing their shooting or in the post-production stage and directed by filmmakers from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia and Portuguese-speaking African countries.

The Ile-de-France technical industry will be keeping a close eye on projects, with sponsors including Mikros Image, Titra Film and Mc Guff.
