As part of the 10th Shanghai International Film Festival (June 16-24), German Films will be organising the third edition of Focus Germany, which will open on 18 June with Where is Fred?, to be presented by director Anno Saul and actress Tanja Wenzel. Another 12 features, a documentary and nine shorts can be seen in Focus Germany.

Two films from Germany feature in the festival's competition: the second film by Franziska von Meletzky, According to the Plan (Frei Nach Plan), and the first film by Sebastian Bienek, The Gamblers (Die Spieler). It will be interesting to see this year's results after the success of last year’s Four Minutes [+see also:

The Panorama section is presenting another seven films from Germany: Autopilots by Bastian Guenther, Hui Buh – The Goofy Ghost [+see also:

In collaboration with the German Consulate General, a reception will be held in the residence of the Consul General on the occasion of the opening of Focus Germany. Another partner for the presentation of the German films during SIFF is the Goethe Institut. European Film Promotion (EFP) is supporting the world sales of the films presented in Shanghai through the Film Sales Support Program. German Films has rented an umbrella stand for the German exporters in the newly established film market.

Part of the Focus Germany program can be seen in the autumn in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Goethe Institut on the occasion of the opening of “Germany in China” in Nanjing.
