EUROPE MEDIA Programme

Sales agents seek non-national films

by

Thirty-one European sales agents were backed by the MEDIA Programme for a sum of just over €1.2m following the EACEA 07/2006 call for proposals, which closed on December 26, 2006. These funds have to be reinvested by sales agents before December 31, 2007, respecting:

- the minimum guarantees on new non-national European films;

- the promotion expenses (prints and advertising) of new non-national European films.

In order to be eligible, sales agents should have a portfolio of at least eight recent European films (at least one of which should be non-domestic) and have sold at least four of these films in at least three countries (not including the original country of the films).

A fixed sum of €25,000 was granted to the agents, which was supplemented by a corresponding bonus of 10% and 20% of support generated by distributors as part of the automatic support scheme for transnational distribution, by films and for territories sold by the applicant sales agent.

Sales agents supported by MEDIA include: Bavaria Media, Celluloid Dreams, Trust Film Sales, Fortissimo Film Sales, Les Films du Losange, Pyramide, Rezo Films, TF1 International, UGC, Studio Canal and Wild Bunch.
