). The three actresses are expected to arrive in Spain in the spring and principal photography is set to begin in May, in the Asturias region.

The film is based on a true story of three women who meet in Paris in the 1970s and get together several years later in Asturias. There, the seven year-old granddaughter of one of them reveals the domestic violence her mother is victim of, inside a wealthy and apparently peaceful home.

The €10m film was presented at a press conference by Ana Rosa Migota, cultural attaché of the Asturias Principate, and by the film's executive producer Eva Sánchez (Evan's Consulting & Enterprice). They both signed an agreement with the Tourism Regional Society of Asturias, which will support the film with €300,000.

Tres mujeres is therefore seen as another opportunity to promote Asturias as a privileged shooting location, after several of the region’s cities last year hosted the principal photography of José Luis Garci's Luz de domingo and Gonzalo Suárez's Oviedo Express (see news).

The film is expected to generate around 80 jobs in the region, extras and technical crew included.

Madrid-born Elorrieta has a background as a music composer and commercials director. His latest film was 2002’s Pacto de brujas and his filmography includes Sangre y Arena, the 1989 film that starred a still unknown Sharon Stone.
