In its latest round of support, the Swedish Film Institute has granted a total of SEK 46.6m (€5m) to 15 new Swedish productions, including seven co-productions with Nordic production partners.

The Nordic co-productions include Danish director Thomas Vinterberg’s new film, A Man Comes Home, produced in Denmark by Nimbus Film with Breidablick Film Produktion as Swedish co-producer. Vinterberg’s Danish language film, based on a script he wrote with Mogens Rukov and Kim Fupz Aakeson, was awarded SEK 5.4m.

Another Danish filmmaker, Hella Joof (Oh Happy Day), was awarded SEK 2m for her new comedy/drama Linas Kvällsbok (English working title Reconstructing Lina), produced by Svensk Filmindustri in Sweden with Fine & Mellow in Denmark. The film, based on the eponymous book by Emma Hamberg, was adapted for the screen by the novelist with Erik Ahrnbom.

Three Norwegian directors also received SFI grants. Up-and-coming Joachim Trier was awarded SEK 800,000 for his feature debut Reprise, recently shown in competition at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. The film was produced in Norway by 4½ Production with Sweden‘s Filmlance International.

Established director Nils Gaup (The Pathfinder) was awarded SEK 4m for his epic film The Kautokeino Rebellion, starring Swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt. The Norwegian/Danish/Swedish co-production between Rubicon TV, Metronome and Filmlance International will be ready in April 2007.

Children’s film Trigger/Arabella by Norwegian filmmaker Gunnar Vikene was awarded SEK 300,000. It is being produced by Cinenord in Norway, in co-production with its Swedish production arm.

Farväl Falkenberg (Goodbye Falkenberg), the directorial debut by Swedish filmmaker Jesper Ganslandt, produced by Anna Anthony for Memfis Film in Sweden in co-production with Zentropa in Denmark, was awarded SEK 1,5m. The film, written by Ganslandt with Fredrik Wenzel, is the story of friendship and childhood memories set during a last summer vacation in Falkenberg.

Hej Kid! by Nanna Huolman which was awarded SEK 5.5m, was produced by this year’s Swedish Producer on the Move Helen Åhlsson for Tre Vänner, in co-production with Finland’s Juonifilmi. Shooting will last from July 26 until September 19.
