Five years of UK films

Six acclaimed UK feature films and seven short films never released in Czech cinemas, made over the past five years, will be shown at the upcoming Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (June 30-July 8) as part of a Special Focus on British Films.

The six features are: Ken Loach’s The Navigators (2001), Paul McGuigan’s thriller Gangster N°1, Sandra Goldbacher’s romance Me Without You, Dominic Savage’s Out of Control, Saul Dibb’s Bullet Boy and A Good Woman by Mike Barker.

The short film programme is dominated by the Oscar-winning Wasp by Andrea Arnold (Red Road [+see also:

).

British talent and films are on display throughout the entire programme of the 41st Karlovy Vary Film Festival, with Debbie Isitt’s comedy Confetti screening out of competition, and Michael Winterbottom’s two films A Cock & Bull Story and Road to Guantanamo [+see also:

(co-directed with Mat Whitecross) in the festival’s Horizons sidebar, along with Michael Caton-JonesShooting Dogs [+see also:

, John Irvin’s The Fine Art of Love and Gavin Hood’s South African Oscar winner Tsotsi [+see also:

Keith Fulton and Louis Pepe’s much anticipated directorial debut, Brothers of the Head [+see also:

, will screen in the Another View section. Special UK guests expected at Karlovy Vary include actors Tom Wilkinson, Saffron Burrows and Hugh Dancy as well as US filmmaker Terry Gilliam.
