PRODUCTION & DISTRIBUTION France

Pan Européenne at full tilt

by

Freed from the responsibility of acquisitions by Wild Bunch - Exception, which controls 80% of distribution company Pan Européenne Edition and provides it with films, Philippe Godeau is now fronting his own ambitious production programme: Pan Européenne Production.

Filming on the company’s Danse avec lui (lit. "Dance With Him") by Valérie Guignabodet (Mariages!), starring Mathilde Seigner and Sami Frey, began February 20 and will last 12 weeks, until the end of May.

Currently in post-production is Mauvaise foi (lit. "In Bad Faith"), the debut feature from Roschdy Zem, which stars Cécile de France (see news) and is set for a November 22 release. Also in post-production is Zabou Breitman’s second film, The Man of Her Life (see article), starring Charles Berling and Bernard Campan, which should be released on August 30.

Shooting for Prix à payer (lit. "Price to Pay") by Alexandra Leclère (Me and My Sister) will start at the end of April, with Nathalie Baye, Fabrice Luchini, Gérard Lanvin and Géraldine Pailhas. Added to these strong titles are well-advanced projects such as Magique! by Philippe Muyl and La vie est un rêve (lit. "Life Is A Dream") by actor Bernard Campan, as well as Mr Nobody by Belgian filmmaker Jaco Van Dormael, which will require 28 weeks of shooting that will begin some time this year in England and Canada.

Pan Européenne Edition also has some aces up its sleeve in the distribution sector, which will improve as a result of a deal between Wild Bunch and Fidélité Productions on a slate of 7-8 films, starting with My Best Friendby Patrice Leconte (set to be released on December 6, 2006).
