The European releases of this week will give Portuguese moviegoers the opportunity to go on a trip around Cuba, Antarctica and Kenya, and allow them to enjoy three different genres: a dramatic musical, a documentary and a thriller.

opens today in 10 theatres. Colombia TriStar Warner distributes Benito Zambrano's second feature film, which closed the Cannes 2005 sidebar section Un Certain Regard (read the article). This Spanish-Cuban-French co-production is one of the hits of box office in Spain, having attracted almost 500.000 people and grossing 2.472.241€ since its local premiere, back in March.

In a totally different register, Vitória Filme releases the French documentary March of the Penguins [+see also:

by Luc Jacquet in 10 theatres. Focused on the reproduction cycle of the Emperor Penguins, the film has already been sold to almost 50 countries and became the second most successful documentary ever in the United States. Unlike the Americans, who saw a version narrated by one single voice (Morgan Freman), the Portuguese audience will get the chance to see the original version, featuring the voices of Charles Berling, Romane Bohringer and Jules Sitruk.

Finally, LNK releases the English title The Constant Gardener [+see also:

, which marks the come-back of the Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles, after the internationally acclaimed City of God. The film adapts John Le Carré's homonymous best-seller about an apparently quiet widower (Ralph Fiennes), who embarks on a journey to uncover the conspiracy behind the murder of his wife (Rachel Weisz). Competing for the Golden Lion in the last Venice Film Festival (read the article), The Constant Gardener opens in 13 theatres.
