Florence looks to France
France Cinéma is turning twenty. The Florentine festival will celebrate the occasion from October 31 to November 6 with a complete retrospective on Eric Rohmer and a look at the 2004-2005 cinema season from the other side of the Alps.
The Competition (whose jury president will be Marco Bellocchio) features eleven films. Alongside veterans (Le filmeur [+see also:

The Rohmer Retrospective (organized by Françoise Pieri, it will also be shown in eight other Italian cities) includes 24 films, all screened in French, some of the earlier of which were never distributed in Italy.
A round table entitled "Eric Rohmer: Writer/Filmmaker" will be held on Saturday, November 5, in collaboration with SNCCI (National Union of Italian Film Critics), at the French Cultural Institute in Florence. Rohmer’s collaborators and actors as well as experts of his oeuvre will speak at the event, including actors Françoise Fabian, Fabrice Luchini, Marie Rivière and Florence Darel; producer Françoise Etchégaray; and Marie Binet (the director of a film consisting of interviews with Rohmer’s actors that will premiere at the festival).
