The European Cinema Academy has just announced the big winner for 2005 in the documentary category. This year, in conjunction with the French-German TV network, Arte, was awarded to Un dragon dans les eaux pures du Caucase (The pipeline next door) , a film by Nino Kirtadzé because it "tells with masterly cinematography a modern fable, the tragic-comic tale of a small village threatened by global player BP".

This is the fourth documentary from the young 37 year old director who comes from Georgia, a film produced by French Roche Productions. The jury will hand over the prize in Berlin on the 3rd of December at the ceremony for the European Films Awards.
