Frears, Chadha and Fiennes at The UK Film Centre

From today until Saturday 21 May, the UK Film Centre will be offering a host of facilities to market and festival delegates as well as a full programme of events and seminars including talks between filmmakers Gurindher Chadha and Stephen Frears and a case study of Martha Fiennes’ closing film Chromophobia.

Situated at the International Village, the UK Film Centre has put together this year a rich programme of seminars in association with the Script Factory and sponsorship from the UK Department for Trade and Investment. Highlights of the seminars include:

-Saturday May 14 from 2pm to 4pm: ‘Women in Film: Is Europe leading the way for the new generation of women pioneers in cinema?
This topic will be discussed by UK producer Sally Hibbin, Sally Caplan from the UK Film Council’s Premiere Fund, director Amma Asante, BBC Films’ Tracey Scoffield and Jenna Sanz-Agero, president of Media & Entertainment.
-Saturday May 14, 4pm-5pm: UK legendary filmmaker Guy Hamilton who directed three James Bond films and was Carol Reed’s assistant in The Third Man, will talk about Orson Welles. The session will be illustrated by clips from Frederick Baker’s new feature film documentary Shadowing The Third Man, screening at Cannes Classics section this year.
-Monday May 16: London Day
This celebration is organized by the London Filming Partnership backed by the Mayor of London and over 100 UK film professionals in order to promote London as the best place to make a movie.
-Monday May 16: Veteran director Stephen Frears (My Beautiful Launderette, Dirty Pretty Things and Gurinder Chadha (Bend it Like Beckham [+see also:

) will explain why they love making films in the UK capital.
-Monday May 16: case study: Martha Fiennes’ Chromophobia
-Tuesday May 17, 1pm-2pm: UK star producer Tim Bevan will give some of Working Title Films’s secrets.
Events and seminars are free and places are first come first served.
