Tomorrow, Danièle Thompson’s third feature, Fauteuils d’orchestre, will start shooting in Paris ; it should take nine weeks. For this comedy, the successful director —her previous movies, La Bûche (1999) and Décalage horaire (2002) both sold 1 to 1.5M tickets in France— has an interesting cast, gathering Cécile de France, Laura Morante, Valérie Lemercier, Albert Dupontel, and Claude Brasseur, around a very Parisian plot unraveling mainly at the Bar des Théâtres on the Avenue Montaigne, near the Champs-Elysées. A provincial girl played by Cécile de France stops at the bar and meets several characters, a famous actress (Valérie Lemercier), a concert pianist (Albert Dupontel) and an art collector (Claude Brasseur), who all wish they had a different life. The script was co-written, as usual, by the director and her son Christopher Thompson (who is also acting in the film) with the idea of showing that luxury does not necessarily make people happy.
