Four Stars for Christian Vincent

by

- Shot in Paris, Nices and Cannes, starring an exciting casting, the love comedy of the director of La discrète is much expected.

Christian Vincent’s next feature Quatre Étoiles, starring José Garcia, Isabelle Carré, and François Cluzet, will start shooting in the beginning of May for eight weeks, starting in Paris and then moving to Cannes (Hotel Carlton) and Nice. This film, co-written by the director together with Olivier Dazat (Podium, Himalaya, l’enfance d’un chef) and produced by Olivier Delbosc and Marc Missonnier for Fidélité Productions, is the story of a teacher (Isabelle Carré) who is so bored in her province (Jura) that she grabs the first opportunity she has (a small inheritance) to move to the Riviera and take it easy. There, she meets a friendly crook (José Garcia) who introduces her to a society of professional swindlers, amongst whom she finds a former racing pilot (François Cluzet). The plot of this comedy unfolds on a background of intermingling love affairs. It is the first time Isabelle Carré has worked with with Christian Vincent since their 1992 film Beau fixe (1992). As for picture director Hélène Louvart, it is her fourth film with Vincent.

Christian Vincent, whose first success was La Discrète (1991) (which won a Cesar Award as Best Feature and the Fipresci Prize in Venice), has been off the screens for five years now. This screen sabbatical ends on the 9th of April with the release in Belgium and France of his sixth feature, Les Enfants, starring Karin Viard and Gérard Lanvin and produced by Claude Berri for Pathé Renn. As for Quatre Etoiles, it will be launched in 2006 by Mars Distribution. Besides Christian Vincent, Fidélité Productions has other well-known directors to recommend it this year : François Ozon, with Le Temps qui passe, starring Valéria Bruni-Tedeschi, Jeanne Moreau, and Melvil Poupaud, and Cédric Kahn with L’Avion. Both are currently in post-production, while Combien tu gagnes? by Bertrand Blier, starring Monica Bellucci, has just started shooting.
