With 12 nominations, Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Un Long Dimanche de fiancaille featuring leading actress Audrey Tautou is on top of the list of selected French films for the César 2005, which was disclosed this Monday 24th January 2005 in Paris.
Equally praised (eight nominations each)Christophe Barratier’s Les Choristes the greatest 2004 hit in the French box-office with over 8,5 millions tickets sold, and Olivier Marchal’s 36, quai des orfèvres a police story starring a great duo of detectives: Daniel Auteuil and Gérard Depardieu. These three films will compete, notably for the title of best French film of the year, with Arnaud Desplechin’s Rois et reine and Abdellatif Kechiche’s L’Esquive. All the nominees designated by the 34000 members of the Académie des arts et techniques du cinéma will face the verdict on 26 February.
