Eurimages’ Xmas package

In its latest meeting held in Strasburg on December 1, the committee running the European Council Eurimages Fund for the European cinematographic industry, has awarded grants totalling €4.15m to 11 feature length films.

The co-productions receiving the funding include one between Spain, France and Germany by the French director, Philippe Haϊm, La vraie vie des Dalton (Castelao Productions and UGC Distribution) and the second part of the trilogy by Lars von Trier Manderlay [+see also:

, a co-production between Denmark, Sweden, France, the Netherlands, Germany and Britain.
There are also grants for 16 distributors to promote 19 films in the various national territories. This means, for example, that the Italian film Facing Window [+see also:

will now also be distributed in Romania, Hungary and Turkey.

The meeting also discussed the nominations for some cinemas, as part of the Cinema Help Scheme. The following cinemas have now been granted funding, backdated to January 1, 2003: the Ukrainian National Cinema Palace in Budapest and the Kinekoteca cinema in Zagreb. In addition, two cinemas, one in Turkey and one in Romania, have been chosen as “pilot sites” for a digital subtitling project.
