PROMOTION Italy

New funding criteria

by

The law containing new support mechanisms and criteria to fund the promotion of cinematographic activity has been signed by the Italian culture minister, Giuliano Urbani, and is on its way to enter the statute books. The new regulations also govern the grants given to national associations and groups involved in filmmaking culture.
The closing date for applications for grants to be presented to the Film Board is December 31, 2003, an extension on the normal deadline, usually set for November 30 of the year before the film is due to be made.
Festivals that are seeking funding and are due to take place in the second half of 2004, have to send in their application by April 30 of the same year.
The regulations are published on the Italian Film Board’s internet site.
