European Cinema in Aubenas

The best of European productions from 2003 will be the main feature of the 5th edition of the European Cinema Meetings, taking place from November 17 to 23 in Aubenas, in the French Ardèche region. The event is organised by the Grand Ecran association under the artistic direction of the famous critic, Michel Ciment,. There are 40 films from 12 European countries being shown in this edition and there’s also a special overview on the history of Spanish cinema. This year’s festival is paying special attention to Spanish cinema, showing a selection of 7 films made between 1937 and 2001, by directors like Fernando Mignoni, Fernando Trueba, Lorenzo Llobet Gracia, Luis Buñuel, Carlos Saura, Pedro Almodovar and Alejandro Amenabar. There are also films for the younger members of the audience, like Peau d’âne by Jacques Demy and The Dog, the General and the Birds by Francis Nielsen, which is currently playing in French cinemas.
