The call is open to creative documentaries from the region of Central and Eastern Europe, tackling contemporary topics, challenging genre and media boundaries, and rethinking audience participation. The market welcomes films that set out to provide intense and engaging experiences, and to change the way we think about topical issues, audiences, ways of storytelling and the world itself. The call is open to completed documentaries produced/co-produced in the region of Central and Eastern Europe in 2021 and 2022, as well as rough cuts. Only films that have not previously been submitted to the East Silver Market are eligible.

As for the deadlines, the teams behind films produced in 2021 and 2022 can apply until 31 May, while those behind projects at the rough-cut stage can do so until 31 July. Further details and the application form can be found here.

The East Silver Market is dedicated solely to the documentary cinema of Central and Eastern Europe. The main aim of the market is to support the distribution and promotion of documentary films from the region. The participating teams have the chance to come into contact with key industry professionals during the Ji.hlava IDFF, while the East Silver Caravan festival service brings the most interesting films to the attention of international audiences. All selected movies become part of an online catalogue of East Silver documentary films and are automatically considered for the Ji.hlava IDFF programme pre-selection.
