Written by Angela Ottobah, the screenplay (special mention of the 2020 Screenplay Award) starts in Paris in June. Paula lives with her father, who is recovering. At eleven years old, she is lonely, school is boring and she has only one friend: Achille. Summer arrives and the father decides to take his daughter to a small, pretty house by the lake. But summer passes, and they don't go back home. Their way of life becomes more and more harsh and difficult, espousing an ideal of education and teaching that becomes more extreme every day. Paula begins to rebel, under the loving but intensely suffocating eye of her father...

Produced by Alexandre Perrier and François-Pierre Clavel for Kidam, Rapture benefits from an advance on receipts from the CNC, production aid from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and support from Sofica Cineventure. Distribution in French cinemas will be handled by Arizona and international sales will be managed by Best Friend Forever (a Belgian subsidiary of the Parisian company Indie Sales).

For the record, Kidam's projects include Damien Odoul's Poil de Carotte, Emmanuel Laborie's Le royaume, Julien Samani's Tempête, Vincent Paronnaud's Lazare, Alexe Poukine's Kika and Marie Losier's Sugar Bomb (with Tamara Films). And at the end of the year, filming will begin on the documentary The Projectionist by Azerbaidjan's Orkhan Aghazadeh (in co-production with the Germans of Lichtblick Film & TV Produktion).
