7 European classics in Linz
"7 classics from 7 decades": this is the slogan being used by the Moviemento cinema in Linz, in Austria, for it’s special programme for Cinedays 2003. It has chosen one film to represent each decade starting from the 1940s, with a particular focus on Italian cinema. In chronological order the review consists of The Earth Trembles (1942) by Luchino Visconti, 7 documentaries about Sicily (1955-59) by Vittorio de Seta, Hour of the Wolf (1966) by Ingmar Bergman, Themroc (1973) by Claude Faraldo, The Element of Crime (1984) by Lars von Trier, Festen by Thomas Vinterberg (1997) and Sailing Home (2002) by Vincenzo Marra. The "New German Comedies" section will be featuring Liegen lernen by Hendrik Handloegten, while Swimming pool by François Ozon will be shown as part of the "new proposals" section.
