The MFI Script 2 Film Workshops run a successful first session

The first session of this year’s Mediterranean Film Institute Script 2 Film Workshops is taking place on Nisyros and online from 2-16 July, and the script and project development training initiative has also unveiled its full programme. It should be noted that despite the restrictions, the majority of the participants are attending physically, on location, always following all of the necessary health protocols.

Some of the highlights of the programme include the presence of acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Fernando León de Aranoa (A Perfect Day [+see also:

) and established producer Paul Miller (A Love Song For Bobby Long) on the island of Nisyros. Furthermore, director Jeremy Podeswa (Game of Thrones) is joining the programme online for an extended Q&A with the participants, which will round off the session.

Some of the activities that have already been held include a master class by Isabelle Fauvel on script consultancy, a lecture by producer Simon de Santiago (Biutiful [+see also:

) on project analysis and its potential, an open-air screening of the film Mondays in the Sun [+see also:

by Fernando León de Aranoa and an accompanying Q&A session with the director, a master class by Paul Miller on film financing, and a lecture by FAMU International and MIDPOINT professor Pavel Jech on “Whose Story It Is.

In the coming days, industry expert Martina Bleis (Berlinale Co-Production Market) will present a lecture on international co-productions and co-production markets, film marketing and audience development expert Nicolò Gallio will host the master class "Connecting Stories: From Scripts to Audiences” and will examine two case studies, while Vasiliki Diagouma, communication and PR manager at the National Centre of Audiovisual Media and Communication (EKOME SA), will present the new Greek cash rebate law.

MFI’s Script 2 Film Workshops are supported by the Creative Europe - MEDIA programme, the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT SA), the National Centre of Audiovisual Media and Communication (EKOME SA), the Secretariat General for the Aegean and Island Policy, and the municipalities of Nisyros and Rhodes.
