The feature, a semi-autobiographical account of Hogg’s own experiences, is set in the 1980s and follows a young film student, Julie (played by Honor Swinton Byrne), who becomes romantically involved with a complicated and untrustworthy man. Tilda Swinton will again portray Rosalind, alongside Richard Ayoade (starring as Patrick Le Mage) and Ariane Labed (playing Garance). ) and Charlie Heaton, best known as Jonathan Bryers from the Stranger Things saga. Principal photography wrapped in July 2019.

The Souvenir Part II was produced by Ireland’s Element Pictures and the UK’s JWH Films for BBC Film and the BFI in association with Martin Scorsese’s own outfit, Sikelia Productions (USA), and Protagonist Pictures (UK), which is also in charge of its world sales. Earlier in March, Picturehouse Entertainment acquired the British and Irish distribution rights, whilst A24 acquired the North American ones following the first chapter’s premiere at Sundance in January 2019. Meanwhile, Swinton, Hogg and the same production team are working on another feature-length project, The Eternal Daughter, which was announced back in February (see the news).
