Written by Chad Chenouga and Christine Paillard (a duo who previously teamed up to pen Do It Right), the story revolves around Sabri who is on his way to becoming headteacher but currently holds the position of deputy head at a high school where his ex-wife Noémie also teaches, and where Naël, their 14-year-old son, is finishing year 10. Strict and not particularly sociable, the only person Sabri really gets on with is Estelle, his superior who is close to retiring and with whom he shares a love of literature. Even though Naël is a good pupil and happy in his skin, Sabri continues to pressure him over his end of school exams. He invests everything into his son’s success and is determined that Naël shouldn’t have to experience the same issues that Sabri himself faced in the past. On the eve of the exam, with the exam papers in his office, Sabri just can’t resist opening that envelope…

Produced by Pascal Caucheteux on behalf of Why Not Productions, The Principal is co-produced by Hole in One and notably enjoys the support of the Grand Est region. Filming will continue in Mulhouse until 3 June, with the full list of partners due to be unveiled at a later date.

For the record, Why Not Productions is currently overseeing post production on Deception [+see also:
