The story, written by the director herself together with Anna Fregonese and Jacques Akchoti, revolves around Aline, who never managed to get closure after the death of her 17-year-old son in a street fight. When she sees the assailant recently released from prison, she decides to cook up a plan to avenge her dead son. Things go unexpectedly as she gets to know the young man and her determination is put to the test.

Produced by Delphine Schmit for Tripode Productions and Édouard de Vésinne for Incognita films, An Ordinary Mother has been pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+. The film, which is also backed by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and the SG Image and Arte Cofinova Soficas, was shot over a period of six weeks in the Rhône region (three weeks in the province of Beaujolais and three in the vicinity of Lyon) with Guillaume Deffontaines (a nominee for the César Award in his category for Slack Bay [+see also:
