The Kids Kino Industry Talks explore the “New Normal”

Kids Kino Industry (KKI, formerly the Warsaw Kids Film Forum) continues its free monthly Industry Talks, an extension of the weekly Inspirational Webinars that ran earlier this year (see the news), which, much like the event itself, aim to create a meeting place for European professionals to exchange their ideas and experiences, and to further develop new content for children.

For the next KKI Talk, which runs on 15 December from 12:00-13:00 CET, the topic is “The New Normal: Kids Media Behaviours Are Here To Stay”, and it will be available on Zoom for registered users only (click here to register). The focus of the discussion is the “new normal” that has started with the pandemic and how it affects children and their families. More precisely, the talk will explore how they spend time at home, how they consume media and how companies are shifting their strategies to build and launch franchises for the child audience.

The talk is hosted by the head of programme at Kids Kino Industry and New Horizons Association, Viola Gabrielli, and she’s welcoming KidsKnowBest, a kids media agency offering services including research and development, content strategy, video production and media buying. The two representatives of the agency, Pete Robinson (chief strategy officer) and Eric Huang (children’s media consultant), will discuss the children’s media industry and how the COVID-19 crisis has changed and reinforced trends.

Robinson has 20 years’ worth of experience in kids and family media, and his speciality lies in blending academic and commercial research to develop new methods of understanding audiences. Huang has also worked in children’s media for over 20 years in a variety of creative roles with Disney, Penguin, Mind Candy and LEGO, among others, and helps companies with creative strategy, storytelling and licensing. KidsKnowBest clients include Universal, Disney, LEGO, Rovio, Itsu, Smyths Toys, Mattel, eOne, Guru, Puffin Books and Hasbro.

It’s worth noting that the first KKI Industry Talk, “Coping With Uncertainty – Navigating Live-action Children’s Film Releases Through the Pandemic”, was held in November, and you can find more informationhere. All of the webinars are being recorded, and the links to the recordings are available for registered participants.

Kids Kino Industry is the industry branch of the Kids Kino International Film Festival, organised by the Education Department of the New Horizons Association, Poland.
