The film, penned by the helmer himself, tells the story of Keira Woods (Elisha Cuthbert), whose daughter mysteriously vanishes in the cellar of their new house in the country. On this occasion, Muldowney will reunite with part of his Pilgrimage crew – specifically, DoP Tom Comerford, composer Stephen McKeown and production designer Owen Power.

The Cellar is being produced by Conor Barry for Savage Productions (Ireland) and Richard Bolger for Hail Mary Pictures (Ireland), and co-produced by Benoit Roland from Wrong Men (Belgium). Patrick Ewald, of Epic Pictures, Lesley McKimm, of Screen Ireland, and Patrick O’Neill, of Wildcard Distribution, will serve as the executive producers. The project was also backed by Screen Ireland, Epic Pictures, BCP Asset Management, the WRAP Fund, Wallimage, Wildcard Distribution, BNP Paribas Fortis Film Finance, VOO & BETV.

Principal photography is set to commence in Roscommon this month. Epic Pictures will handle sales for the feature at this year’s imminent American Film Market, whilst Wildcard Distribution will be in charge of its distribution in Irish cinemas next year.
