The script, penned by the helmer himself and described as “a film about caring for each other despite our differences”, is set over the course of a week in the autumn of 1997 and follows a group of tourists travelling by bus from the northern provincial part of Denmark to the city of cities, Paris. In particular, the story will centre on two sisters, called Inger and Ellen, whose relationship is put to the test. Actresses Sofie Gråbøl and Lene Maria Christensen will play the two siblings. Alongside Gråbøl and Christensen, the main cast includes Anders W Berthelsen, Søren Malling, Christiane G Koch, Karen-Lise Mynster, Luca Ben Coker and Peter Gantzler.

Rose is being produced by Thomas Heinesen for Nordisk Film. The project received backing from the Danish Film Institute, the West Danish Film Fund, Eurimages and the Creative Europe MEDIA funding programme.

The feature will be ready for a Danish release in summer 2021.
